Mr. Chapman has lived in Phoenix for eight years. Prior to moving to Arizona, he grew up and lived in Seattle, WA. The polar opposite beauty of the Sonoran Desert--and the wide open skies--drew him to the Valley of the Sun. Before pursuing a degree in education, and a career as a teacher, he worked in the financial industry for 10 years and computer programming 5 years prior.
He received his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Arizona State University. While his teaching experience began in 6th grade, he has also taught Kindergarten, 4th, and 5th grade at Esperanza Elementary. Mr. Chapman is very excited to be teaching 6th grade, and being a part of the amazing Sunset Ridge team!
When Mr. Chapman is not in the classroom he enjoys reading, exploring the local area, traveling to other states and countries, and furthering his own education. He had a home built for his Sonoran Desert Tortoise, Eggbert, in his back yard. Over the course of the past year, he has been creating a reef aquarium; with the hopes of growing corals and other various sea creatures.
Mr. Chapman hopes through sharing his life's experiences in class; his students will recognize they are each an integral member of the ever-shrinking global community in which we all live. It is his belief that each student brings to the class an individual base of knowledge, talent, and ability. Each of his students will have the opportunity to be academically successful!
